I came to garden design after a career in scientific research, and that way of thinking still shapes my work. I observe natural plant communities to understand what makes them feel so emotionally powerful, and I use these insights to guide my designs. I also seek to understand how plants relate to their environments so that, for each site, I can select species that are best suited to the conditions. My goal is to create gardens that are both ecologically grounded and deeply beautiful.
